Carrie Cox is a kindergarten teacher, small business owner, community leader, wife, mother, and a grandmother. Carrie is known throughout Henderson as a woman who cares deeply for our community and the residents who call Henderson home. Carrie has the unique ability to find a win-win solution in almost all situations. She is driven by her desire to improve our community and preserve our quality of life.
The city of Henderson has been home to Carrie for 25 years. A graduate of Brigham Young University, she has been active in the community, was appointed and serves on the Henderson Blue Ribbon Commission on Educational Excellence and the Clark County Community Development Advisory Committee.
Carrie’s typical day touches just about every portion of life in Henderson; work, education, children, family life, small business, sports, shopping and recreation. She understands that we all want a strong economy, safe neighborhoods, and schools. Carrie knows it is critical to complete the tasks at the city while operating within a given budget.
Being married to an Air Force veteran, and having a father who served in the Army, has made veteran’s, and the challenges they face near and dear to Carrie’s heart.
Carrie Cox is genuine and only has goals that serve us and our community. Her priorities are to improve public safety, focus on improving education at Henderson schools, create jobs in our community, bring transparency to the city council, and be fiscally responsible. Her priorities will always include feedback from Henderson residents and place them first.
Serving her community has always been a priority for Carrie:
· Serves on the City of Henderson Blue Ribbon Commission on Educational Excellence and Youth Opportunity
· Serves on the Clark County Community Development Advisory Committee
· Worked with Senator Woodhouse on a bill for changes to the Cosmetology licensing reciprocity requirements.
· Served the Community of Emerald Valley as President and Director of the board of directors
· Served as President and Secretary of the Lorna J. Kesterson Elementary School PTA Board
· Served as a PTA member for over 25 years as a community and family engagement advocate
· Member of the former Women’s Impact Network
· Served in various leadership positions in her church, including the Young Women’s organization, earning the Young Woman Achievement Award
